May is Osteoporosis Awareness month

Osteoporosis affects (approximately) 10 million Americans and almost 44 million have low bone density which places them at risk. Osteoporosis is a disease of the bone that makes them weak and more likely to break. Osteoporosis is silent but not uncommon. 50% of women and up to 25% of men over 50 years old, will have a broken bone due to osteoporosis in their lifetime. For women, the incidence of osteoporosis is greater than that for heart attack, stroke and breast cancer combined.

Like some other diseases, osteoporosis is largely preventable. It is equally important to be aware of specific dietary and lifestyle factors that promote bone health and protect against osteoporosis as it is to know other factors that can increase the loss of bone mass.

  1. Sodium pulls large amounts of calcium into the kidneys where it is subsequently excreted through the urinary tract.
  2. Protein in excess of 60 grams per day promotes the loss of calcium and other vital minerals through the urine.
  3. Caffeine containing drinks have been found to trigger the loss of calcium through the kidneys and intestines. Research indicates that a lifetime daily consumption of two or more cups of caffeinated coffee or soda is linked with a reduction in bone density. The more you drink of these beverages the greater the loss.
  4. Alcohol and tobacco can also damage the bones. Heavy drinkers appear to be at higher risk of osteoporosis; heavy smokers typically have less bone density than non-smokers.

While genetic factors can play a role in determining bone mass as people age, individual choices can either promote or impair bone health. An alkalinizing diet and supplementation with the ideal combination of critical nutrients can support bone health. PERQUE K2/D3 Plus Guard is a novel formulation of Vitamins D3 and K2 with 2-Beta Coxatene, a Bone Morphogenetic Protein (BMP) complex and herbal blend, that has been shown to build new bone tissue.

The body uses 99% of its calcium to keep bones and teeth strong and to support skeletal structure and function. The other 1% of calcium is used for cell signaling, blood clotting, muscle contraction and nerve function with levels tightly controlled within a very narrow range in the blood tissues. Calcium regulating hormones affect calcium transport in the intestine, bone, and kidney; other nutrients play a role in the functionality and efficacy of calcium in bone health as well.

Vitamin D, which is not a vitamin at all, has many uses in the body. Vitamin D3 enhances the absorption of calcium in the intestines, helps mobilize calcium from your bones into the bloodstream when you’re not consuming enough, and also regulates synthesis of osteocalcin.

Vitamin K2 actually refers to a collection of more specific forms known as menaquinones. The MK-7 form (used in PERQUE’s K2/D3 Plus Guard) is effective in stimulating reabsorption of calcium from the kidneys back into the bloodstream, building bone by pulling calcium out of the bloodstream and holding it in the bones, activating the calcium-binding capacity of osteocalcin, protecting blood vessels from calcification.

PERQUE K2/D3 Plus Guard features 2-Beta Coxatene, a novel Bone Morphogenetic Protein (BMP) complex and herbal blend designed to support the bone-building immune cells and signal stem cells to build new bone tissue. Beta Coxatene contains Cyplexinol®, an osteoinductive protein complex that binds to receptors within the GI tract where both osteoinductive and anti-inflammatory activity is generated. It is this osteogenic property that increases formation of osteoblasts and therefore promotes the growth of new bone tissue, providing the critical surface for minerals to bind to healthy bones.

The herbal blend used in 2-Beta Coxatene features Boswellia serrata. The most potent of the 6 acids in Boswelia is 3-O-Acetyl-11-keto-β-Boswellic acid (AKBA). Its immune- supportive signaling capabilities have been scientifically validated.

Combining the benefits of Vitamin D3 and Vitamin K2 (soy-free MK7) with osteoinductive 2 Beta Coxatene, PERQUE K2/D3 Plus Guard provides the ideal balance of nutrients and support for healthy immune signaling and stem cell activation for new bone tissue formation.

Add PERQUE D3 Cell Guard if additional D3 is needed to reach the goal value of 50 – 80 ng/mL.
